  • 5existing building

  • in the historical center of carpi, italy, behind the castle and just in front of the renovated civic library, stands the former supercinema 70, nowadays empty because strongly damaged by an earthquake in 2012, the only place with no specific function all around an important piazza.

since we were asked to redevelop this abandoned area, my partner and I decided to project a new building, tracing the shape of the existing one exept the higher volume, in which dwell offices and luxury apartments with private garages. to face the programmatic density and to avoid a contact between the parts, we created an intermediate place within the plan, a spine that contains all the vertical connections of the two functions, like pipes, structural loads, cores, air and light. The four floors (1250 sqm each) are so divided: apartments occupy the highest floors and work as plugs structurally independent, offices are at the first floor, while the ground dwells the halls, the plant room and a car parking. the idea of giving each function some private green space, every plug/apartment has a courtyard that supplies air, light and more living

quality, while offices gain a stripe-shaped garden from the moving back of the northern facade.considering the sensitivity of the historical context, the aim was to create a heavy building, which well integrates with the surrounding old ones but at the same time differentiates itself with expression and materials. marble cladded splayed windows reduce, from inside, the percep-

tion of the huge depth of the brick-colored rough concrete facade.

    [Solo per uso accademico]

[Solo per uso accademico] this was a research project to create a design tool to optimize the design of zero carbon buildings.the aim was to create a highly sophisticated tool by fusing the three developing technologies whose potential had not yet been realized: envi-

ronmental modeling, parametric modeling and building information modeling.as a standard example, the 3d model of hopkins architects office was built up, environmentally analized and compared to reality by me.

inside one of the richest quarters of las condes in santiago de chile, this private house dwells a family composed by 6 people and so has got several common areas which needed to be arranged and decorated. the whole aspect of furnitures was thought during the development of the build-ing site and therefore when spaces were already defined and could be much better understood and visualized. most of objects are from the most famous italian brands and every single one of them was chosen among several options, attempts and through the use of visualization renderings.

    2015international competition

  • 37green tramway

  • since the most important street ax of santiago de chile would need to be reorganized, for both urban density and social reasons. the city coun-cil decided to announce an international competition, this project proposes a green tramway line which follows the ax through its whole lenght, opening and lifting itself over the biggest road crossings, which result covered by a grassy hill. these new green hubs, beside becoming new important public and pedestrian spaces inside the city, further connect all the surrounding parks, which converge like branches into the trunk.

  • 41irradiation study

  • this 220 sqm private house in carpi, italy, was projected and built following energy efficiency criteria in order to get a zero carbon and self-sufficient building. a smart and proper design of roof and walls insulation, windows type, photovoltaic panels, ventilating and dehumidifier

system and a heat pump contributed to create a high efficiency house which over-produces energy.

2015international competition for a wildlife rescue center

  • 55

  • the purpose of this competition was to create a visitor and care centre within the kruger national park, in southafrica, in order to disseminate awareness about the importance of animal protection to its visitors and also encouraging them to become volunteers.

by being aware of the utopic character of the proposal, the latter creates three different physical dimensions with only one architectural ges-ture; while a floating roof accommodates all the human-related activities, its projection on the savannah ground generates a natural enclosure

and a consequent intersection and interaction with animal fences. animals rest and mens work blend underneath the roof.
