CHRISTMAS SAUNANATIONAL THEATER PIAZZETTE - PRAGUE

Last Christmas we placed sauna into the Prague city center between the two buildings of National Theater. It succeeded as a place for winter meetings, fun and relaxation during the stressing season before Christmas. In this sauna you can �nd a resting room, too. Many tourists and visitors enjoyed this tem-

porary event.

FOLDABLE SAUNA

We have created a foldable sauna prototype. It shows the possibility of simple and cheap construction. Anyone can assemble a sauna anywhere within a few hours. Sauna is designed for 4 to 6 people and it is heated by an electric heater.Important is the size of the sauna in the folded state – it is a prism

SZAUNA NEN TUDOM FESTIVAL PLACCC – BUDAPEST

We were invited to join multicultural festival PLACCC which takes place in Hungarian Budapest. Sudden change of locality just before the start of the festival forced us to improvisation. Anyway - our goal was very simple and we

were able to adjust sauna into porticus of Budapest Kunsthalle.

THE “CYLINDER” MOBILE SAUNA

Having had positive experience with our �rst mobile sauna, we are looking for an even better and a more-innovative design for it. In this variant we at-tempted to �nd an optimum surface area of the sauna and simplify its mate-rial composition as well as construction details, which have to withstand the sometimes rought outside weather and unusual physical conditions in the

interior.The mobile sauna´s special chassis, with independently spring-loaded wheels, is designed as wooden supporting structure from bent wood. We cooperated

with specialist from the TON a.s. furniture company on the design.The case of the sauna is made from plywood sheets and multiwall polycar-

bonate sheets which were supplied by the �rm Arla Plast AB.Heating is by a wood-�ring stove. The sauna is designed for two persons but

it up to four people can use it with a little less comfort.

FLOATING SAUNA IGENDELEGYHAZA – MAGYAR

The construction was created as a part of the Central European Project Cul-burb – Cultural Acupuncture Treatment for Suburbs and was built up with the intention to bring pleasant atmosphere into the monotonous life of now-adays countryside. Having received the responses from locals immediately after the completion of the work the aim of the construction was succesfully full�led. The composition of the construction was divided into three zones in order to make it completely transparent. The �nal impression of the construc-

tion accurately �ts into the local pitoresque scenery.

We have revamped our original project of �oating sauna. We tried to maintain the simple and compelling form of the original. The only thing improved was

the construction. Again we made use of simple materials and structure.At �rst our sauna was showcased at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague as part of our studio presentation. Then it has been lifted on the roof of the Trafačka Gallery where it is to stay for about a month. Later it is going to be placed at National Theater’s New Stage piazza and �nally it’s going to end up on a private pond where it would remain open for public. It is possible to ar-range a sauna session at Trafačka, just let us know you are interested. At the

New Stage please buy a ticket at a ticket o�ce.

BICYCLE SAUNA

In Prague cycling is a hobby of dedicated cyclists who have to prove con-stantly that they are spirited enough to adopt this non-standard way of trans-portation around the city. For all those who are not worried to ride their bikes, we have created a sauna that can be attached to a bike and dragged to a river or lake. Structural design and materials are functional in maximum possible way. With the respect to the necessary comfort, dimensions are minimal. The materials used are light and durable. The front tilt is in a way reference to the legendary Velorex three-wheeler. The sauna has capacity of up to six people. It wouldn’t have been possible to create our sauna without reliance, generos-ity and e�ort of a number of people. Thank you all very much! This sauna is

SAUNA ON WHEELS

We brought a sauna to MFDF 2010 in Jihlava, CZ.

We got an old barely functional trailer which we decided to transform into a chassis of a new mobile sauna. As usual we worked with simple materials.

You get in from the back. A stove is placed above the thill. There are two benches where you can sit sideways to the direction of travel.

We wouldn’t recommend using sauna while traveling though.

And �nally a good news: this sauna just moves away when moronic gang-

bangers turn up.

FLYING SAUNA

We have created an opportunity. A cube where anyone can enjoy sauna is hanging above the river.

Any way of bringing attention to the original structure of the weir is positive.The nature of our project made us use cheap materials (partly recycled) and

simple structural design. The construction didn’t take longer than a week.Its intended lifetime is one season.

For a short time our sauna was installed on an old weir in Obříství. These days it is �ying under an unused bridge over the river Ohře.

Operating instructions: bring some �rewood or you can collect it in adjacent forests. It is necessary to be equipped with a boat. Be careful when entering

and exiting sauna. The stream under the sauna is strong. Use the river bank as a rest place.

FLOATING SAUNAPODĚBRADY - CZECH REPUBLIC

We didn’t design a �oating sauna on a pond near Poděbrady with great ex-pectations, neither did we care much about originality of the structure. The primary task was to create a place where we could enjoy sauna with our

friends or o�er this experience to anyone interested.The construction is simple and cheap. Used materials consist of steel light-gauge sections, wooden laths, plywood and stretchable transparent foil. We

found a cast iron stove at a dump.Interior is lit through transparent sides. At night the structure becomes a beautiful and subtle �oating lantern. Privacy of users is secured by sauna be-ing anchored far from the lake-shore. Supply of �rewood have to be brought

on a boat.Sauna is open to everyone.

Our sauna was ransacked and damaged beyond repair in winter when it was easily accessible due to the frozen water surface.
