THE UNIQUE RADON WATER FOR YOUR TREATMENT A PLEASANT PLACE TO RELAX IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ORE MOUNTAINS

We have interesting offers forfamilies with children. Radonek,a mascot of Jáchymov Spa, points those out.

INDICATIONS

Radon water signifi cantly improves the mobility of the joints, has an antiarthritic effect, improves the immunity of the organism, improves blood supply, operates on cellular chemical processes, stimulates repair mechanisms in the core of cells, and thus reduces the need for analgetics or other medicines. In most cases the effect, even in the case of chronic illnesses, lasts longer than six months. And above all, the treatment is very suitable for older patients.

In general, radon therapy is very delicate, does not burden organism in terms of thermal or in terms of circulatoryor acid-base balance. Even seniors tolerate it very well. It is especially applicable to therapy for chronic diseases affecting movement by:

a) infl ammation - any form of joints rheumatoid arthritis, soft tissues, backbone (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, systemic lupus, fi bromyalgia, Bechterew´s disease) b) pains and ankylosis caused by wear (e.g. arthritis of joints and backbone, discs prolapses, damage to ligaments, cords and menisci) c) metabolic derangement (osteoporosis, gout, porphyria) d) damage to peripheral nerve or spinal roots (e.g. neuritis, neuralgia, peripheral paralysis, root vertebral syndromes, polyneuropatia, carpal tunnel syndrome)

Furthermore, they are postoperative and traumatogenic cases requiring intensive healing and regeneration of damaged issues, for example, total joint replacement, backbone operation or surface burn scars.

Radon therapy regenerates cases with general energetic disharmony: a) vegetative instability, neurocirculatory weakness (cold limbs, easy collapses, chilly states, functional organ dysfunctions, menopausal syndrome) b) in general, loss in strength in great age c) ergasthenia caused by labour intensive jobs d) regeneration for top sportspersons e) keeping functional reserves of organism in disseminated sclerosis or Parkinson´s disease in an early stadium

RADON WATER TREATMENTHEALING ENERGY FROM THE EARTH’S DEPTHSIt is a specifi c natural health resource that makes a certain locality a health resort. There are climatic spa resorts, spa resorts with springs of thermal mineral water, mud spa resorts etc. Léčebné lázně Jáchymov a.s. is absolutely unique and different in terms of its natural healing resource. It cures by means of radon water that, unlike other resources, does not have chemical effects, but energetic ones. A unique source of these natural resources is a mine in Jáchymov, which is still functional, the oldest one in Bohemia and probably also in Europe. It arose in 1518 and there are springs of radon water on its twelfth level, at a depth of 500 m under the ground, which are called, for example, after academician František Běhounek or Marie Curie - Sklodowska.

Nowadays four springs are used on the 12th level of the mine Svornost (Concord):

A mix from all four springs is used for the baths.

How is a bath prepared? Radon water with a temperatureof 35 - 37˚C and (for the treatment ideal) radon concentration 4-5kBq/l is released into the bath from below. This unusualmethod, reminiscent of the emergence of white water, prevents the escape of radon into the air, as would take place were it released through a tap. Then you simply step in and let the bath do its work.

The quintessence of the treatment of diseases of the locomotive system in Jáchymov are baths in radon-rich water. Radon, radon- 222 isotope respectively, is a chemically inert gas that rises from the depths of the Ore Mountains and dissolves in underground springs. It is a source of soft ionising alpha radiation. Duringa radon bath, the surface of the body is exposed to an energy shower of radon alpha particles. The alpha particles triggera chain of physiological reactions, which soothe pain, improve joint movement, blood circulation and healing, stimulate regeneration processes in the tissue of locomotive organs, harmonize vegetative functions, positively affect blood pressure, and they boost the immune system of the body. The penetration of radon into blood circulation is negligible and its biological half-life (eliminationof radon from the body) is 20 minutes (i.e. the duration of the radon bath).

A radon bath helps blood supply to the bones and joints, alleviates ailments of the spine and joints, works as an antiarthritic means without side effects and can reduce pain for up to 8 - 10 months after treatment. Radon helps after injuries and operations and people with diabetes and gout. For many clients with rheumatism or Bechterew disease, treatment with radon provides indescribable assistance. A radon treatment can be utilized as part of a three-day programme provided by the Jáchymov spa facilities, and always begins with a consultation a doctor. Individual baths can be taken on an out-patient basis. A condition of successful reaction on the part of the organismis a minimum of 10 baths.

The programme includes full treatment. After the initial medical examination and evaluation of your health condition, the spa physician will draw up an individual treatment plan. The spa procedures are based on traditional balneological methods such as physical therapy and professional rehabilitation, and radon baths, the healing effect of which will relieve pain and enhance the quality of your life. Optimum healing effects are usually experienced after about three weeks. Bookings are available for a minimum of 11 nights.

SPECIAL DISCOUNT RATES:With spa stays longer than 4 weeks the radon baths are not applied from the 5th week on because the medical limit has been reached. Thus, the amount of procedures provided per week will be reduced and a discount of 20% (of the daily price) will be applied for these days.

REHABILITATION CURE INTENSIVE PLUS

SPA STAY

Based on feedback from clients who cannot undergo radon baths for various reasons, we now offer a new standalone therapeutic program where radon baths are replaced by other hydrotherapeutic procedures. A doctor will setup an individual therapeutic plan, which includes targeted physiotherapeutic treatment, during the entry checkup. The minimal length of this favorably-priced program is 7 nights.

THE PROGRAMME INCLUDES: • Accommodation with full board, special diets as prescribed by the physician are catered for • Initial medical examination and basic laboratory tests (blood count, blood sugar, and/or uric acid, and/or ESR) • Follow-up medical examination once a week • 21 spa procedures per week. These are prescribed by the attending physician and are based on the medical condition of the client • Final medical examination and discharge medical report (in English) • Spa fee

This new program targets those clients suffering from signifi cant damage of their locomotive organs caused by e.g. accidents (car crashes), vascular brain problems or damage to the spinal cord.

It comprises everyday intensive rehabilitation with the helpof top-notch physiotherapists and includes additional physical and hydrotherapeutic methods.

THE PROGRAMME INCLUDES: • Accommodation with full board, special diets as prescribed by the physician are catered for • Initial medical examination and basic laboratory tests (blood count, blood sugar, and/or uric acid, and/or ESR), evaluation of medical status, setup of an individual intensive therapeutic plan- Follow-up medical examinations min. once a week • 29-32 spa procedures per week. These are prescribed by the attending physician and are based on the medical condition of the client • Final medical examination and discharge medical report (in English) • prescribed procedures include individual exercise with a physiotherapist 1-2 times a day (morning, afternoon). These also include individual exercise in an exercise cabin or a swimming pool. • if required by the condition of the client, these individual exercises may also be done in the patient’s room following a recommendation from the doctor • other physical and hydrotherapeutic methods (electro-, magneto-, phototherapy, radon baths) • room delivery of food if necessary • a check-out medical examination incl. a report in English • Spa fee

This program requires the client to be accompanied by someone. This person will also receive a special prize. To participate in this program it is necessary to send a medical report on the condition of the patient in advance or a recommendation by his/her doctor, so that our doctor may approve the treatment.

LABORATORY EXAMINATIONThe following options are available as part of the medical programmes “Intensive complete radon Treatment” and “Radon Treatment”: blood count, blood sugar, and/or uric acid, and/or ESR.

For an additional fee we also offer the possibility of other laboratory examinations, the prices of which are available at the fi rst aid room or from a doctor. As part of the basic laboratory examinations we offer:

The spa premises offer a tennis court, a miniature golf course, petanque, chess, or Russian skittles. Bike rental is also available for your convenience so there is no need to take your bike with you. Those who wish to try Nordic walking may take advantage of our experienced instructor. Moreover, you can go for a swim in the hotel swimming pools or the Agricola Aqua Center. We will also readily book a bowling lane for you at any reception.

Jáchymov is an ideal choice for those keen on winter sports. Cross country tracks in the total length of 140 kilometresare maintained for cross-country skiers all winter. A numberof downhill courses for all skill levels with lengths ranging from 330 to 1,500 metres are within reach for alpine skiers.And snowboarders will surely enjoy the U-ramp. And you can enjoy so much fun in summer as well! The woody terrain with signifi cant super elevation is suitable for both hikers and mountain bikers. You may also have fun on the summer bobsleigh trackin the nearby town of Oberwiesenthal.

The city of Jáchymov was awarded city status in 1516, when the local mines began mining silver. All of this is well documented in the city museum located at the Royal mint. Many chapels were built for the patrons of miners between the 16th and 19th century, and these still stand here today. Jáchymov also has well-preserved historical churches. The Barbora drift is opento the public during the summer as a technical landmark. Visitors can see samples of various types of timbering, mine carts and mining tools on the 300 meter long exhibition area. The Radium Palace, Běhounek and Curie spa houses hold regular dance and music evening events and concerts of various genres, including swing, jazz, brass bands and classical music. The Radium cinema regularly shows movies in English. CANCELLATION BY THE CLIENTClients may cancel their stay at any time before arrival.In your own interest, and to avoid any misunderstandings,we recommend cancelling the booking in writing. Unfortunately, we are obliged to charge a cancellation fee to the following amounts:

• up to 27 days before the contracted starting date 5% • up to 20 days before the contracted starting date 10% • up to 13 days before the contracted starting date 20% • In case of no-show on the agreed day of arrival and without previous notifi cation of cancellation 30%

In case of cancellation due to serious health reasons, subject to a medical confi rmation, no cancellation fees will be charged.In case of premature departure if there are no serious health reasons confi rmedby a physician the following fees will be charged:For the 1st cancelled day: 100% of the price of services bookedFollowing cancelled days: 30% of the price of the services booked and up to a maximum of 160%
