    2. National Sanitary Foundation (NSF) Stand- ard 60 Certified for potable water 3. Contributes high levels of oxidation reduction potential (ORP) 4. Neutral pH does not add corrosion factor 5. Scales and bacterial formations release rather than dissolve the column. 6. Nonhazardous waste considerations 7. One treatment—does not require added chemistry or pH adjustment 8. Treats water basin to above 700 mV ORP 9. Leaves no lingering maximum contaminant levels (MCL) of chemicals

BiCARBUS treatment is National Sanitary Founda-tion (NSF) Standard 60 Certified scale control. Once applied, residual levels of treatment are allowable back into the water supply, thereby reducing flushing for removal of residuals.

Minimal effect was noticed by pumping BiCARBUS scale control into the well online. BiCARBUS treatment pumped into the well only reached down to 20 ft. above the bell. The objective was to see if the BiCARBUS would be able to impact the screens and perforations dur-ing operation. On September 18, 110 gallons of BiCARBUS solution was injected into the well and allowed to soak for 10 days. Two noticeable indica-tors of effectiveness were: 1. Conductivity increased rapidly

during pumping. 2. Oxidation reduction potential

(ORP) levels went to negative indicating heavy impact on calcium hydroxyls.

**Extremely low to negative ORP readings indicate treatment penetration and release of sodium hydroxyls.

    Shut Down to Soak

NOTE: On September 18 at the 60 minutes mark, city personnel reported: Static water level at 40 ft. while pumping at 400 GPM for five days and is considered a significant improvement. Since two barrels soaking produced approximately 14% increase in static well draw, it was determined that adding four barrels of BiCARBUSTM* at once and allowing them to soak after surging the well several times might produce a deeper penetration into the basin area along with destabilizing calcium buildup on the screens. Oxidation reduction potential (ORP) readings will be taken after each barrel is pumped into the basin with a target contributed ORP to be above 600 mV, which would indicate a strong bacterial intervention. A log will be kept on additional surging samples to indicate the reduction in ORP (slope) as the bacterial matrix is penetrated.

BiCARBUSTM* 110 gallons treatment had been injected into the well the week prior and allowed to soak. Significant information resulted in extrac-tion which showed no residual ORP remain-ing after leaving product in for six days. Adding five gallons down into the well would indicate if ORP contribution would result in levels above 500 mV ORP. Results indicated diminished demand as

ORP elevated above 700 mV, which directly

corresponds to the increase in conductivity

(1947 µS to 2143 µS) 10%, which ranged

down to 1918 µS within 10 minutes.

One hundred and 10 gallons of BiCARBUSTM* treatment had been injected into the well through a 240 ft. tube to place treatment as close to perforations as possible. Again, conductivity was significantly higher than normal reading (625 µS) over three times higher after soak-ing. ORP read significantly lower (absorption) and began to increase as water removed back to normal ORP levels. BiCARBUS treatment was introduced

through the chemical feed tube 240

ft. down the well. Readings indicated

a small residual FAC was present

    during pumping.

The well is in intermittent use. Seasonal demand is dwindling. The BiCARBUSTM* pump is slaved off the well pump so well use remains intermittent.

Results of BiCARBUS continuous feed is lim-ited to pumping use.

Minimal results indicate feeding BiCARBUS into the well at a level 20 feet above screens is not producing scale re-moval at a fast pace.

BiCARBUS treatment remaining is 167 gal-lons. Decided to pump remaining treat-ment into the well to soak, with removal and results to be read the following day.

Initial conductivity of the well water was 1592 µS. Well readings during treatment range from 1625 µS to 2600+ µS. This indi-cates particle removal at a nominal rate. Water samples taken during pumping show significant particle precipitating during op-eration.

Goal for this test is to achieve 100 GPM increase in well production on a sustainable basis.

Condition of the well was unsustainable pumping at a rate of 325 GPM for 1 to 1.5 days or on an intermittent basis.

    Well treatment produced so far:

Well capacity: 425 GPM on a sustaina-ble basis.

12/11/14—Injected 275 gallons of BiCARBUS into well. 12/16/14—Analyzed benefit of soaking and discovered that the well for-mation was perculating, which means that the product was not in contact with the casing surface long enough to be of any benefit. The operator rec-ommended we pull the turbine and put in a 2 in. line to the bottom to re-circulate to treat the wellhead. Conductivity, pH, ORP, and FAC readings determined there were no oxidants present.
