The front cover and back cover are tied together by the same location making them fitting with each other.A ‘parental advisory explicit content’ label is used as we are aware that Brayton’s songs use some strong language. I placed a barcode on the back to make the back cover look more realistic, as this is only an initial draft of the back, a record company logo will be added as will copyright information. This design would be fitting with the magazine advert that I had created as it was also shot at night time and a synergistic element of neon light would remain.

This is a light option. The image is clearer and maybe stands out more because of this. I liked the fact that on the front he’s walking forward, as if towards you, and on the back that he’s walking away, however the setting with plain brick houses is not ncessarily very conventional to the pop genre, it would be more fitting with a genre that speaks of every day life and every day problems, an example being grime. Jake Bugg also uses this sort of setting in his debut album layout, however he also speaks largely of ordinary life in his songs.

This design is linked together through the dark theme and neon lights, the white writing also matches the font of our magazine advert. There is copyright information, a logo and a barcode located at the bottom of the digi-pak in a small font; it is a necessary element of the digi-pak but not something that needs to be prominent.

Alternative ideas for front covers included the two above. I used photos that I had previously taken; one in Camden of a row of painted houses and one of a chapel interior in Egham. While I really like the aesthetics and minimalism of these two cover options and think they would possibly look the most realistic out of all my options, I think they don’t fit sufficiently with our genre which is mainly ‘pop’. Pop album covers conventionally include a photo of the artist on the front cover. Furthermore, while I would definitely match the inside covers and back designs with the front cover to carry the same theme across all panels, neither one of these has a synergistic element that links them to the magazine advert I am designing or the video I had made.

• As for the layout I have decided to go for a simple 2 panel design with a pocket for a lyric booklet, this would be the most realistic option in the industry considering that it would be our artist’s first album and normally a debut release would not consist of a complex digipak design, the reason for this largely being a lower budget for an artist who is not yet established in the industry.
