Marie Tussaud was born in Strasbourg, France.
She was a wax-model artist. She brought her collection of wax celebrities to England in 1802. Because of Napoleonic Wars, she couldn‘t return to France.
Her first permanent exhibition was set up on Baker Street in 1835.Some wax statues made by Madame Tussaud still exist. Her own portrait is standing by the museum entrance.

He began in a single room with two assistants and a messenger boy.The goods which were sold and delivered were medicines, perfumes, stationery, fruit, and vegetables.
