THE BRITISH MUSEUM IS…

…one of the most often visited museums …dedicated to human history and culture…famous for its collections of Egyptian artifacts

Marie Tussaud was born in Strasbourg, France.

She was a wax-model artist. She brought her collection of wax celebrities to England in 1802. Because of Napoleonic Wars, she couldn‘t return to France.

Her first permanent exhibition was set up on Baker Street in 1835.Some wax statues made by Madame Tussaud still exist. Her own portrait is standing by the museum entrance.

Harrod‘s - the most famous shopping centre in London was started by Charles Henry Harrod as a small grocery shop in 1824.Harrod's son developed the business and added mail-order service. He began in a single room with two assistants and a messenger boy.The goods which were sold and delivered were medicines, perfumes, stationery, fruit, and vegetables.

Today Harrods has seven floors, about 300 departments, more 3.000 working staff and between 30,000 to 50,0000 people are shopping here every dayIt is a luxurious shopping centre, you are not allowed to enter in shabby clothingBuckingham Palace is supplied with food and other goods from Harrods Department Store every day.
