Proceedings of an emergent meeting of the Departmental Committee held on 03.04.2018 at

10:00 a.m. in the office of the HOD (JMC):

At the outset, the faculty members conveyed their greetings & Best Wishes to Prof. Harish

Kumar on his appointment as HOD (JMC). He welcomed the faculty members, and extended

greetings.

The agenda of the meeting was discussed in details, and the following decisions were

taken unanimously:

1. The Internal Assessment Test for MA (JMC)- 2nd and 4th semester to be conducted from

April 9 to 11. Faculty members concerned to conduct their respective papers.

2. The Alumni Meet of the Dept. of JMC will be held on 15.04.2018 at 03:00 p.m. in the

Dept. (on the same day as University’s Alumni Meet).

3. It was decided that a Whatsapp group of the Dept. Alumni be started. Sh. Naveen Kumar,

Asstt. Professor to co- ordinate this whatsapp group.

4. It was decided to organize Alumni Interactive Session(s) in the Dept. by inviting

prominent alumni for these session(s).

5. It was decided that media workshops/ extension lectures/ National Seminar, etc. be

organized to take decision in the matter. Further, such events may be organized in

collaboration with DSW office/ Youth Red Cross committee/ Women’s Study Centre,

etc.

6. It was decided that Media Industry Visit be organized. To start with, visit(s) to Amar

Ujala/ Dainik Bhaskar/ Dainik Jagran Printing Press/ News Paper office(s) based at

Rohtak may be conducted during this session.

7. Under any other item, it was decided that Special Media related days like National P. R.

Day (April 21), World Press Freedom Day (May 3), and various National/ International

Days as well as Birth/ Death Anniversaries of noted icons/ national leaders, etc. be

observed in the Dept.

8. It was decided that Dept. explores possibility of entering into collaborations/ tie- ups with

reputed media organizations, reputed media institutions/ national institutes, and

organizations like USEFI, British Council, Gandhi Peace Foundation etc.

The HOD was authorized to take initiatives for departmental activities.

Minutes of the meeting of Departmental Committee held on 16/01/2018 at 10:30 A.M.

A meeting o the Departmental Committee of the Department of Journalism and Mass

Communication held today (16/01/2018) at 10:30 a.m. in the office of the Head, Dept. of

JMC to finalize the panel of experts for evaluation of research papers.

It was unanimously resolved as under:

1. The Departmental Committee finalized the panel of experts for evaluation of research

papers [enclosed at Annexure ‘A’].

2. The Departmental Committee approved that the case of Registration to Ph. D [session

2017-18] in respect of Mr. Shiv Kumar be placed before the Departmental Research

Committee for approval.

3. It has also been decided that room of Prof. Sarojini Nandal will be room of the Head

of the department from now on.

An emergent meeting of the Departmental Committee was held on 22.3.2018 at 10:00 a.m., and

the committee considered the information related to the Department for NAAC requirements/

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) requirements.

Accordingly the Committee resolved as under:

1. The Programme Codes (CBCS) of PG Courses prepared by the dept were considered and

approved.

2. The Programme Specific Outcomes (PSO)- Learning Objectives and Learning Outcomes,

and Course Outcomes (CO) prepared by the department was discussed and approved.

was held on 16.03.2018 at 11:30 a.m. The meeting was held in the chairmanship of HOD

(JMC) Prof. Sarojini Nandal.

Proceedings of the meeting of P.G. Board of Studies of Dept. of Journalism and Mass

Communication:

A meeting of P.G. Board of Studies of dept. of Journalism and Mass Communication was held

today i.e March 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the office of the HOD (JMC).

The following decisions were taken unanimously in the meeting:

1. The PGBOS approved the Ph. D registration cases of the following candidates as

recommended by Dept. Research Committee (DRC) under the Supervision of faculty

members (Guide) as per Annexure ‘A’ attached herewith.

2. The PGBOS approved the panel of examiners for evaluation of Ph. D thesis and Viva-

Voce in respect of Research Scholars Yogesh Kumar and Sushil Kumar.

3. The PGBOS approved the Programme Codes- CBCS PG Course. It also approved the

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSO) and Course Outcomes (CO) of the PG Courses.

This has already been approved by the Departmental Committee.

The PGBOS deliberated upon the agenda of the meeting and decided as under:

1. The PGBOS approved the Panel of Examiners for evaluation of Ph. D thesis and conduct

of viva- voce of research scholar – Manoj Kumar.

2. The PGBOS approved introduction of new Open Elective Paper- NEW MEDIA in the

Third Semester (CBCS) from the session 2018-19 in place of earlier course-

INTRODUCTION TO MASS MEDIA. This has already been approved by Departmental

Committee in its meeting dated 04.05.2018.

3. The PGBOS approved the syllabi of the paper NEW MEDIA- Open Elective CBCS

course.

4. The PGBOS approved the shifting of the earlier Open Elective course in III semester

INTRODUCTION TO MASS MEDIA as a FOUNDATION COURSE from the session

2018-19 in second semester under CBCS scheme.

5. The PGBOS approved in principle the conversion of PG DIPLOMA IN JOURNALISM

AND MASS COMMUNICATION from Annual system to semester system as per

instructions/ guidelines issued by Dean. Academic Affairs/ Academic Branch. The

PGBOS authorized the HOD to finalize the distribution of courses of PG DIPLOMA IN

JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION in semesters/ amending the syllabi

accordingly. The new syllabi will be brought to the notice of PGBOS in its next meeting.

Proceedings of the meeting of U.G. Board of Studies of Dept. of Journalism and Mass

Communication:

A meeting of U.G. Board of Studies of dept. of Journalism and Mass Communication was held

today i.e. April 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the office of the HOD (JMC) to deliberate upon various

issues related to UG courses of Journalism and Mass Communication. The issues were discussed

thread bare, and it was decided unanimously that:

1. The Panel of Examiner(s) & Paper Setters (Theory/ Practical) of UG classes [BJMC/ BA

(JMC)/ Elective Paper Journalism and Mass Communication] I to VI semester be

approved.

2. As to the representation made by AIJHMC, Rohtak forwarded by Academic Branch, and

a representation made by Govt. PG Nehru College, Jhajjar, it was decided that the 80

(Theory)- 20 (Internal Assessment/ Practical) prevalent in University, as per common

ordinance for UG 3 years (six semesters), be followed in the Elective Paper- Journalism

and Mass Communication.

Further, Practical be introduced in III semester in the Paper- Media Writing,

instead of Internal Assessment.

3. The UGBOS approved the Programme Specific Ordinance (PSO) and Course Outcomes

(CO) of the UG courses in JMC.

4. On a suggestion by Member of UGBOS Shalini Khurana to increase the Workload of

Practical component in BA (JMC) three years course, it was decided that in principle the

UGBOS agrees with the suggestion, and a committee will be got constituted to look into

the matter/ revise the syllabi accordingly to make it more professional and job- oriented,

and justify the workload of teachers of the subject.
