Living English – 24th & 31st July and 14th & 21st August Paul Oxenham, one of our native speakers, will be hosting intensive English courses during the summer. Paul has been teaching with Magic English for a year and a half and previous to this he worked for many years as a Production Manager. He came to the Czech Republic in 2009 to work for one month on a project to move a business from the UK. The project lasted a little longer than expected and Paul decided to stay and do something a little different! The main idea of the intensive courses is to help people communicate and feel confident when speaking English. The name of the courses ‘Living English’ means that for one week students will ‘live’ English. It will be aimed at enjoying yourself and relaxing with a group of people who want to speak English. There will be no Czech allowed in the normal course of the day, with a few exceptions. If you are heard to speak Czech, well……….there are always toilets to be cleaned and wood to be chopped!!!!! Before the courses start, Paul will have an individual interview with each of the students and try to find out which areas of English they want (or need) to improve. Each course will contain students of similar levels. Hopefully, this means that no-one will be worried about people with vastly better English. The course timetable will be finalised closer to the summer, but a basic day will be something like this: 8.30am – Breakfast 9.15am – Discussion of up to date news taken from the BBC website 10.45am – Lesson based on individual needs 12.15pm – Lunch (light and English- no goulash!!) 1.15pm – Trip (Broumov rocks, Snezka etc etc) Students will plan some trips. 5pm – Dinner……..cooked by students from English cook books!!! Evenings will be relaxing with games, DVDs, presentations, conversation and maybe a beer or two. Depending on individual requirements we may have a family evening when family can visit. http://www.usedlost-janovice.cz/ The accommodation consists of 3 beautiful apartments which each have a living room with dining area and a kitchen. There is also a bathroom with shower and upstairs is the bedroom. Two students will share each apartment. Men and women will not be expected to share an apartment together unless they specifically request it. The courses will run from the Sunday morning until Saturday lunchtime. The cost of the course is 11000czk and includes accommodation, food and drinks (some alcoholic drinks will be included in the price, but you should bring your own Slivovice!!)
