několik slov úvodem

Vážení a milí přátelé, příznivci Nadačního fondu IMPULS, tak jako každý rok držíte v rukou výroční zprávu, kterou Vám předkládáme s důvěrou a radostí. Bez každého z Vás, těch, kteří nás podporujete, by jakékoli i sebevětší úsilí nebylo nic. Každý, komu do cesty vstoupí roztroušená skleróza, ví, jak nevyzpyta-telná je.

Možná by na tomto místě mohlo být krátké zamyšlení nad uplynulými 15 lety, možná jen pár slov o tom, jak 15 let změnilo a posunulo mnohé, co Nadační fond IMPULS za 15 let dokázal.

Ale přichází-li s patnáctým rokem v životě člověka poznávání sou-vislostí, nové obzory, nové možnosti, byl i pro nadační fond tento rok velmi důležitý. A z toho všeho se mi jako symbolický moment, jako předěl, jako jeden z kroků na cestě dál, posun a otevření se ven, vykrystalizovalo turné „Hledá se 16 tisíc“. Kde je těch 16 tisíc pacientů s RS? A kde všude?

Akce, která se v první chvíli zdála neuskutečnitelná. Hledá se 16 ti-síc. Za 16 dní projela výprava 16 měst, aby našla 16 tisíc pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou. Akce, na jejímž konci bude stát kniha, dokument o 16 lidech, skutečných životech, prvních krůčcích s nemocí, krocích k novému životu.

V prvním plánu bylo ujít 16 tisíc kroků v každém městě. Pro 16 tisíc pacientů, které bychom si mohli představit spíše jako krok od jednoho člověka k druhému, krok ke každému, jehož životním průvodcem je roztroušená skleróza. Krok, který udělat nemusíme, ale můžeme. Krok k pochopení, krok k budoucnosti, o níž věříme, že přinese nové možnosti, nový lék. Každý z Vás, kdo drží v ruce tuto výroční zprávu, ten krok udělal. Děkuji Vám za něj a přeji všem mnoho dalších, stejně tak dobrých, nejen Vašich, ale i těch k Vám…

IMPULS, nadační fond, který si vzal za cíl finančně podporovat projekty v oblasti vědy, výzkumu a terapie roztroušené sklerózy mozkomíšní (RS, sclerosis multiplex), vznikl 6. dubna 2000 jako vůbec první neziskový subjekt se specializací na pomoc nemoc-ným s touto diagnózou. Finanční prostředky směřuje do projektů týkajících se nejen terapie, vědy a výzkumu, ale také do rehabili-tačních, vzdělávacích a osvětových aktivit.

Za 15 let práce dokázal Nadační fond IMPULS přijmout odpo-vědnost neziskové organizace, která pomáhá stabilně a dlou-hodobě. Organizace, která pomáhá pacientům v oblastech, kde je nedostatek veřejných financí patrný nejvíce – fyzioterapie, psychoterapie a rehabilitace. Nejedná se o jednorázovou aktivitu, ale o závazek. Závazek odpovědnosti jak vůči pacientům, tak i samotným odborníkům.

Nadační fond IMPULS převzal také nelehkou roli provozovatele a koordinátora největšího výzkumného a statistického projektu v oblasti roztroušené sklerózy, celostátního Registru pacientů s RS (ReMuS). Registr, po kterém více než deset let bez odezvy volali odborníci, poskytovatelé i plátci zdravotního pojištění, přiná-ší po téměř třech letech provozu první kvalitní dlouhodobá data, nepostradatelná pro budoucí výzkum i nákladovou stránku léčby.

Registr by však nevznikl bez dlouhodobé spolupráce se všemi 15 odbornými centry pro léčbu roztroušené sklerózy a s pacient-skými organizacemi napříč celou republikou. Nadační fond proto neustále vyhledává možnosti, jak pomoci, jak motivovat pacienty i jejich rodiny k aktivnímu přístupu vůči nemoci, k sobě samému i svému okolí. Povzbuzuje je, aby přišli mezi lidi s podobným osudem v pacientských sdruženích, sdíleli své zkušenosti, nalezli pomoc a naopak pomohli potřebným.

Stavebním kamenem práce fondu je důvěra a transparentnost. Získat si důvěru dlouhodobých dárců a partnerů stojí mnoho úsilí. Nepřijde ze dne na den, ztratit ji je však možné během okamžiku. Proto Vám předkládáme v této výroční zprávě výsledky roční prá-ce v podobě nezpochybnitelné, prověřené každoročním auditem. S přesvědčením, že Nadační fond IMPULS si důvěru zaslouží.

Žádné nevyléčitelné onemocnění není záležitostí jednotlivců. Tak jako je útes sounáležitostí drobných živočichů, o něž se roztříští nejedno plavidlo, je i roztroušená skleróza o sounáležitosti, pomoci a podpoře rodin a přátel pacientů, lékařů, terapeutů a celé společnosti.

finanční PomocÚčelem nadačního fondu je sbírat finanční prostředky a cíleně je rozdělovat na projekty v oblasti roztroušené sklerózy. Obdrží-li nadační fond dar, věnuje jej v souladu s přáním dárce na vybraný konkrétní projekt, nebo jej posoudí a (s ohledem na cíle fondu a výši příspěvku) vybere ten nejvhodnější cílový projekt. Dárcům poté putuje zpětná vazba, jak bylo s darem naloženo.

Nadační fond IMPULS si váží každé finanční pomoci bez ohledu na to, jaká je její výše. Chce-li však neziskový subjekt pomáhat dlouhodobě, neobejde se bez dárců, kteří přispívají pravidelně. Jejich příspěvek je víc než dar, je to projev dobré vůle a důvěry ve smysl práce a cíle podporovaných projektů.

hmotná a dobrovolnická PodPoraNejsou to pouze finance, které pomáhají. Cenným darem mohou být rehabilitační pomůcky, sportovní vybavení či kancelářské

potřeby, které nadační fond poskytne účelově těm nejpotřebněj-ším. Vítáni jsou také dodavatelé služeb, kteří ušetří fondu přímé finanční náklady (například v oblasti tisku materiálů, propagace, video či foto dokumentace, překladů).

Nadační fond IMPULS si velice cení pomoci desítek dobrovolníků, kteří mu věnují svůj čas, energii, znalosti a osobní kontakty. Bez nich by jeho aktivity nemohly probíhat v takovém rozsahu, jako to bylo i v případě osvětového turné po České republice Hledá se 16 tisíc a u dalších akcí. teraPie roztroušené sklerózy

K projektům s dlouhodobým trváním patří podpora terapie a léčby roztroušené sklerózy ve specializovaných ambulancích, tzv. RS centrech. Tato centra navštěvují ročně tisíce pacientů, dosah a efekt finanční pomoci je tedy daleko větší, než by tomu bylo u podpory samotných jedinců. Náklady na léčbu šplhají do závrat-ných výšek, často zde chybí odborníci i potřebné vybavení.

Příspěvky nadačního fondu proto putují především tam, kam již veřejné finance nedosáhnou – na podporu fyzioterapie, psycho-terapie, nákup léčebných přístrojů a rehabilitačních pomůcek.

fyzioteraPie a rehabilitace

Klid a žádný pohyb, říkali dříve lékaři pacientům. Dnes je z jejich úst naopak slyšet: Hýbejte se, cvičte, rehabilitujte, přiměřeně svému stavu. Prokázalo se, že pravidelný pohyb a rehabilitace k léčbě roztroušené sklerózy neodmyslitelně patří.

Rukama kvalifikovaných terapeutů, hrazených z příspěvků nadač-ního fondu, prochází ročně stovky pacientů. Poskytují jim ambu-lantní individuální péči, pomáhají rehabilitovat na lůžku. Od roku 2011 pořádají v RS centru Všeobecné fakultní nemocnice v Praze skupinová rehabilitační cvičení, jejichž základem je speciálně sestavený kruhový trénink. Právě při jednom z nich přišli sami pacienti s myšlenkou na uspořádání netradičního 24hodinového Maratonu cvičení s roztroušenou sklerózou. Vžil se pod názvem MaRS, organizačně jej zastřešil Nadační fond IMPULS a během čtyř let se stal úspěšnou celorepublikovou kampaní s mezinárodní účastí a jasně definovaným výtěžkem – podpora cvičebních aktivit pacientů v regionech.

PsychoteraPie

Jakákoliv nevyléčitelná nemoc představuje velký nápor na psy-chiku pacienta a jeho blízkých. Dobrá duševní kondice má přitom prokazatelně pozitivní vliv na průběh nemoci jako takové. Řada pacientů se neobejde bez pravidelné psychoterapeutické péče,

Patnáct let se nadační fond imPuls věnuje Pomoci v oblasti roztroušené sklerózy. během nich se mu Podařilo uvést do života desítky Projektů. některé mají krátkodobý charakter, ale Převážnou většinu se daří financovat stabilně již několik let.

která jim pomáhá zvládnout prvotní nápor nemoci, její obtíže, a vyrovnat se se změněnou životní situací.

Podobně jako u fyzioterapie není ani péče psychoterapeuta plně hrazena ze zdravotního pojištění. Příspěvky nadačního fondu proto putují do této oblasti, na úhradu psychoterapie pacientů ve třech RS centrech – Fakultní nemocnici Plzeň, Krajské zdravot-ní – Nemocnici Teplice a Všeobecné fakultní nemocnici v Praze. Pacienti mohou využít jak bezplatné individuální konzultace, tak rodinné terapie či podporu při hospitalizaci. Další prostředky věnuje IMPULS na podporu terapeutických programů, jakým je například série intenzivních víkendových setkání s názvem „Potkalo se tělo s duší”.

rehabilitační Pomůcky a vybavení center

Již od svého vzniku v roce 2000 přispívá IMPULS na vybavení ambulancí chybějícími přístroji a moderními rehabilitačními pomůckami. Za přispění nadačního fondu mohli v roce 2015 začít využívat nové pomůcky pacienti jihlavské nemocnice. Příspěvek obdržel i Domov sv. Josefa v Žirči u Dvora Králové nad Labem na pořízení celoplošného transportního zařízení, které výrazně usnadní pohyb dlouhodobě léčených imobilních pacientů.

Moderní cvičební pomůcky si mohly pořídit také regiony, které se zapojily do maratonu cvičení MaRS 2015. Výtěžek z dobro-volného vstupného a darů v Praze byl v tomto roce rovnoměrně rozdělen do všech měst a pomohl vybavit tělocvičny pacientů a pacientských organizací pomůckami pro stabilizaci a mobilizaci páteře, nácvik rovnováhy, posilování či protahování.

věda a výzkum

I přes velké pokroky ve výzkumu v posledních letech zůstává roz-troušená skleróza velkou neznámou. Zásadním úkolem nadačního fondu je proto podporovat medicínský výzkum, a přispět tak ke

zrychlení vývoje účinných léků a aplikaci nejnovějších vědeckých poznatků do českého prostředí.

V roce 2015 realizoval IMPULS dva velké výzkumné projekty. Druhým rokem zastřešil projekt biostatistické analýzy dat pacientů s RS s cílem vyhodnotit aktivitu nemoci a odpovídavost jednotlivých pacientů na léčbu. Třetím rokem provozoval a plně z nadačních prostředků financoval celostátní Registr pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou (ReMuS).

registr Pacientů s rs – remus

Registr ReMuS se v roce 2015 úspěšně přehoupl do druhé vývojové fáze. Jestliže se do něj od jeho počátku mohli zaregist-rovat pouze pacienti na nákladné DMD terapii (Disease Modifying Drugs), tj. dlouhodobé biologické léčbě, v roce 2015 se poprvé otevřel i pro ostatní pacienty bez ohledu na fázi nemoci a typ léčby. Registr poskytuje první ověřené a dlouhodobé výstupy o průběhu nemoci a její léčbě.

Výsledky registru byly s úspěchem prezentovány veřejnosti na jarní tiskové konferenci v Praze, pracovníkům RS center na akreditovaném semináři v Brně a na dalších odborných tuzemských akcích. Představen byl také na mezinárodním neurologickém kongresu ECTRIMS v Barceloně. Výsledky a zájem o spolupráci ze strany evropských zemí ukazují, že se již dnes řadí mezi přední evropské databáze roztroušené sklerózy.

Přinést osvětu a inspiraci lidem nemocným i zdravým, povzbudit je k aktivnímu přístupu k životu, ale i zvýšit všeobecné povědomí

o nemoci. Tak by se daly v kostce shrnout cíle, na které míří Na-dační fond IMPULS svými kampaněmi a vzdělávacími aktivitami. Mezi mediálně nejúspěšnější v roce 2015 patřil 24hodinový cvičební maraton MaRS, Benefiční večer pro IMPULS a tisková konference k registru ReMuS. Tyto již tradiční aktivity doplnilo úspěšné podzimní turné po České republice s názvem „Hledá se 16 tisíc“ a komunikace vybraných témat jako „Roztroušená skle-róza a těhotenství“. Sledovanost více než 350 článků zveřejně-ných na základě akcí přesáhla 71 milionů přečtení a zcela ovládla téma roztroušené sklerózy v českých médiích.

Svěží jarní vítr do komunikace nadačního fondu přinesl výroční Benefiční večer pro IMPULS. Nejenže na něm IMPULS oslavil své 15. narozeniny, ale zároveň se představil ve zcela novém kabátu. Uvedl nové logo a grafický vizuál informačních materiálů, který na první pohled upoutá minimalistickým pojetím a jasnými barvami. Slučuje v sobě dynamiku a pohyb vzruchů i rozvlněnost nervových vláken. Změna celé vizuální prezentace nadačního fon-du se postupně projeví ve všech tištěných i on-line materiálech.

Důležité místo mezi aktivitami nadačního fondu zaujímá podpora vzdělávání odborníků prostřednictvím konferencí a seminářů. K nim se řadí i odborné sympozium 17. Jedličkovy neuroimu-nologické a likvorologické dny, na němž se IMPULS podílí jako organizátor, či pracovní seminář k registru ReMuS pro personál RS center.

Svůj význam v oblasti osvěty mají také akce, které jsou spojeny s dobročinnou sbírkou ve prospěch pacientů s roztroušenou skle-rózou. Nadační fond na nich seznamuje účastníky s problemati-kou onemocnění a získává prostředky na konkrétní projekty. Tak tomu bylo i v případě benefičního vánočního koncertu pěveckého souboru Septem Cantet v Klášterci nad Ohří nebo charitativního vánočního trhu Střední průmyslové školy sdělovací techniky Panská v Praze.

Předání šeku na rehabilitační Pomůcky, nemocnice jihlava, 22. 1. 2015Přes 30 nových rehabilitačních pomůcek za 77 136 Kč mohli začít v roce 2015 využívat pacienti RS centra a rehabilitace jihlavské nemocnice. Pořídili je z daru Nadačního fondu IMPULS, společ-nosti Oxalis a Sdružení mladých sklerotiků. Slavnostní předání proběhlo za přítomnosti médií přímo v RS centru jihlavské nemoc-nice. Podle Radka Ampapy, vedoucího jihlavského RS centra, dar významně zvýšil možnosti místní rehabilitační péče. Projekt se stal unikátním příkladem spolupráce soukromého a neziskového sektoru i samotných pacientů.

mars 2015 – 4. ročník maratonu s roztroušenou sklerózou, 6. – 7. 3. 2015Nadační fond IMPULS uspořádal již čtvrtý ročník 24hodinového Maratonu s roztroušenou sklerózou – MaRS. Celý den a noc cvičila o prvním březnovém víkendu téměř tisícovka pacientů, zdravotníků, jejich přátel a příznivců z 12 měst. Poprvé se připojila zahraniční města – slovenské Piešťany a švýcarské Valens. Na podporu rehabilitace a nákup rehabilitačních pomůcek se podařilo vybrat celkem 116 848 Kč. Cílem sportovní kampaně je motivovat pacienty k aktivnímu přístupu k nemoci a upozornit na nezbyt-nost pravidelného pohybu při její léčbě.

benefiční večer Pro imPuls, la fabrika, Praha 7, 7. 4. 2015 Pocit nesvobody a nemožnosti pohybu mohli prožít návštěvníci 10. výročního Benefičního večera pro IMPULS. Na programu bylo taneční představení Korekce – pod režijní taktovkou Jiřího Havel-ky a v podání tanečního souboru VerTeDance a kvarteta Clarinet Factory. Představení se odehrálo 7. dubna před zaplněným sálem pražské La Fabriky, kde se podařilo vybrat 481 251 Kč. Peníze putovaly na registr pacientů ReMuS a s ním spojený medicínský výzkum. Během slavnostního večera předal zástupcům fondu šek na 350 000 Kč dlouholetý generální partner, společnost UNIMEX GROUP. Stalo se tak téměř na den, kdy byl před 15 lety založen Nadační fond IMPULS.

tisková konference k Projektu remus, clarion congress hotel Prague, Praha 9, 25. 5. 2015Na padesát novinářů a partnerů se sešlo při příležitosti Světové-ho dne s roztroušenou sklerózou 25. května na tiskové konferen-ci v hotelu Clarion Congress Hotel Prague. Nadační fond IMPULS prezentoval první rozsáhlé výsledky registru ReMuS. Předsedkyně správní rady Kateřina Bémová poukázala na to, že hlavním přínosem registru je přinášet dlouhodobá data, která nelze získat z klinických studií. Význam registru pro výzkumné a léčebné účely vyzdvihla i neuroložka prof. Eva Havrdová.

17. jedličkovy neuroimunologické a likvorologické dny, univerzita karlova, Praha 1, 29. – 30. 5. 2015Mezi odborné akce, na kterých se pořadatelsky podílí Nadační fond IMPULS, patří prestižní konference Jedličkovy neuroimunolo-gické a likvorologické dny. Jejího 17. ročníku se ve dnech 29. a 30. května na půdě Univerzity Karlovy účastnilo přes 120 lékařů a vě-deckých pracovníků z České republiky i zahraničí. Odborníci ocenili zejména vysokou odbornou úroveň a vědecky přínosný obsah akce. Jedličkovy dny, pojmenované po jednom z prvních neurolo-gů, jenž se věnoval diagnostice a léčbě roztroušené sklerózy, se konají pravidelně jednou za dva roky a jsou tradičně významným místem pro výměnu zkušeností v oboru neurologie.

Potkalo se tělo s duší, rekreační areál u jetřichovic, 27. – 29. 3., 22. – 24. 5., 16. – 18. 10. 2015Celkem třikrát se sešli v roce 2015 pacienti s roztroušenou sklerózou v rámci programu intenzivní skupinové terapie „Potkalo se tělo s duší“. Pod vedením zkušených terapeutů a s využitím netradičních moderních metod pracovali v inspirativní příro-dě středních Čech na tom, aby si uvědomili souvislosti mezi psychickou a fyzickou stránkou své osobnosti a vyrovnali se se svojí diagnózou. Víkendový program proběhl již pátým rokem z příspěvků Nadačního fondu IMPULS.

hledá se 16 tisíc, 28. 9. – 13. 10. 201516 dní, 16 měst, 16 set kilometrů, 16 tisíc kroků na každé zastávce – řeč není o hravé matematice, ale putovní akci Hledá se 16 tisíc. V Den české státnosti se vypravil Nadační fond IMPULS v expe-dičním voze s posádkou složenou z fyzioterapeutů a dobrovol-níků na svou vlastní svatováclavskou pouť. Netradiční a zcela ojedinělá akce si vzala za úkol šířit osvětu o roztroušené skleróze, povzbudit pacienty a veřejnost k podpoře regionálních pacient-ských sdružení a pozvat je na 5. ročník 24hodinového Maratonu s roztroušenou sklerózou (MaRS 2016). Tachometry expedičních vozů Renault nakonec naměřily 6 163 km, posádka se setkala se stovkami aktivních lidí, kteří dohromady zdolali 1 966 475 kroků a společně tak dokázali, že se nikdo nemusí pohybu bát. Impulsí mise vyvrcholila závěrečným happeningem na náměstí Míru v Praze, kde byli odměněni jak všichni členové posádky, tak nejaktivnější regiony celé expedice.

akreditovaný seminář remus, fakultní nemocnice brno, 2. 10. 2015Na třicet lékařů, sester a zdravotnických pracovníků odborných RS center z celé republiky pozval nadační fond v pátek 2. října do Fakultní nemocnice Brno – Bohunice. Konal se tu pracovní seminář na téma Novinky v registru pacientů s RS (ReMuS). Po teoretické části věnované výsledkům registru a problematice zabezpečení procesů projektu se účastníci zaměřili na nácvik práce se samotným databázovým programem. Velký ohlas měla také diskuse a výměna zkušeností s jeho provozem.

13. ročník výstavy cesta za duhou 2015, galerie vinohradská 12, Praha 2, 5. – 29. 11. 2015 Nadační fond IMPULS je každoročním hrdým partnerem podzimní výstavy Cesta za duhou. Jinak tomu nebylo ani tento rok. Výstava už potřinácté představila zajímavá díla pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou, tentokrát v bezbariérovém prostoru Galerie Vinohradská 12 v budově Českého rozhlasu. Kurátorkám Veronice Bratrychové a Kláře Zápotocké se opět podařilo nenásil-ně propojit tvorbu umělců – profesionálů i amatérů, kteří museli čelit výzvě v podobě nevyléčitelné nemoci, a přesto v ní dokázali najít naplnění a radost.

Prezentace registru remus na konferenci o roztroušené skleróze, domov sv. josefa v žirči, 24. 11. 2015Jedním z příjemců nadačních příspěvků je i Domov sv. Josefa v Žirči u Dvora Králové n. L., jediné specializované lůžkové zařízení pečující o pacienty s roztroušenou sklerózou provozované Ob-lastní charitou Červený Kostelec. Zástupci nadačního fondu přijali pozvání na konferenci „Kompletní ošetřovatelská péče o nemocné s roztroušenou sklerózou“ a slavnostní otevření nových prostor Domova. Ve svém příspěvku představili své nadační aktivity, zejména registr ReMus a cvičební maraton MaRS.

vánoční koncert sePtem cantet, zámek klášterec nad ohří, 11. 12. 2015Každý, kdo přišel v pátek 11. prosince na charitativní vánoční koncert do Renesančního sálu Zámku Klášterec nad Ohří, se mohl zaposlouchat do podmanivých vokálů ženského komorního sou-boru Septem Cantet. Před nabitým sálem zazněla plejáda koled, tradičních spirituálů i moderních písní. Výtěžek ve výši 10 534 Kč věnovaly členky souboru Nadačnímu fondu IMPULS na vybavení nově zrekonstruované ordinace teplického RS centra.

sbírka Pro imPuls na charitativním vánočním trhu sPšst, Praha 1, 22. 12. 2015Druhým rokem věnovala výtěžek charitativního vánočního trhu lidem s roztroušenou sklerózou také Střední průmyslová škola sdělovací techniky v Praze v Panské ulici. Součástí trhu bylo i předvánoční setkání všech studentů na hřišti školy u jinanu. Tomu byla za zpěvu koled oblečena třicetimetrová šála, kterou kantoři, studenti a přátelé školy štafetově pletli od začátku škol-ního roku. Netradiční dobročinný projekt pod vedením PhDr. Dagmar Vackové vynesl na podporu psychoterapie pacien-tů 14 250 Kč. Šek bude předán Nadačnímu fondu při tradičním jarním Koncertu pro IMPULS.

Dear friends, and supporters of IMPULS, Endowment Fund,Like every year, you are holding in your hands the Annual Report that we submit to you with trust and joy. Without each one of you who support us our effort however great would serve to nothing. Everybody who has been diagnosed multiple sclerosis, knows how unpredictable this disease can be.

Now, we could maybe say a few words about the past 15 years. We could mention what changed, and also the accomplishments of IMPULS, Endowment Fund.

In human life, the 15th year brings recognition of connections, new horizons, and new possibilities. For the Endowment Fund this year was important, as well. From all of that, it seems to me that a symbolic moment, a turning point, and an opening outwards, was the tour “Seeking for 16 Thousand”. Where are those 16 thousand MS patients?

“Seeking for 16 Thousand” was an event that seemed unrealiz-able in the beginning. In 16 days a tour passed through 16 cities to find 16 thousand MS patients. In the end of this campaign a book would be published – a book about 16 people, real lives, first steps with the disease, and steps towards a new life.

The first plan consisted in making 16 thousand steps in each city. For 16 thousand patients whom we could rather imag-ine as one step from one person to another, i.e. one step to everyone who has multiple sclerosis as his life companion. It is a step that we don’t have to do but we can do it. It is a step of understanding, a step towards future that we believe will bring new possibilities, new drug. Each one of you that is holding this annual report in his hand, did this step. Thank you for doing it, and I wish you many other equally good steps, not only yours but also those towards you…

IMPULS, Endowment Fund, whose goal is to financially support projects in the field of science, research, and therapy of cerebro-spinal multiple sclerosis (MS, sclerosis multiplex), was founded on April 6, 2000, as the first non-profit subject specialized in helping people with this diagnosis. It uses financial means for projects related to the therapy, science, and research, but also for rehabili-tation, education, and public relation activities.

During the past 15 years of its activity, the IMPULS, Endowment Fund, succeeded in embracing the responsibility of a non-profit organization that helps steadily in the long term. It helps pa-tients in an area where the lack of public finances is more appar-ent – physiotherapy, psychotherapy, and rehabilitation. It is not just one-time activity but a commitment. It is a commitment of responsibility towards both, patients, and specialists themselves.

IMPULS, Endowment Fund, assumed a formidable role of keeper, and coordinator of the largest research, and statistic project in the field of multiple sclerosis – the statewide register of patients with multiple sclerosis (ReMuS). More than ten years, without a response, specialists, providers, and payers of public insurance called for such a register. Now, after three years of operation, it brings first quality long-term data essential for future research, and cost of treatment.

However, the Register could not exist without a long-term coop-eration of all the 15 specialized centers for treatment of multiple sclerosis, and organizations of patients across the republic. Therefore, the Endowment Fund continues to look for possibili-ties, how to help, and motivate patients, and their families to an active approach to the disease, to themselves, and to their neighborhood. It encourages them to meet other people with similar fate in patient associations, to share their experience, to find help, and to help others.

Building stone of the effort of the Fund is the trust, and transpar-ency. It requires a lot of work to gain the trust of long-term do-nors, and partners. It does not come from day to day, but it takes one moment to lose it. Therefore, in this annual report we submit to you the results of the year-long work in an indisputable form, verified by annual audit, and we are convinced that IMPULS, Endowment Fund deserves your trust.

No incurable disease is a matter of individuals. As a cliff is a concern for small animals, and more than one ship shatter against it, so is the multiple sclerosis about togetherness, help, and support of families, and friends, physicians, therapists, and of whole society.

financial suPPortThe purpose of the Endowment Fund is to collect financial means and distribute them purposefully for projects concerning multiple sclerosis. According to the will of the donor, the Endowment Fund uses financial gifts received for specific projects, or it will assess the gifts, and (with respect to the aims of the Fund and the amount of the contribution) it will choose the most appropriate target project. Donors will get the feedback about how the donation was used.

IMPULS, Endowment Fund, appreciates every financial help regardless its height. However, if the non-profit subject wants to help in the long-term, it cannot get along without donors who contribute regularly. Their contribution is more than a gift. It is a manifestation of good will and trust in the sense of the work and goals of supported projects.

theraPy of multiPle sclerosis

One of the long-term projects is the support of therapy and treatment of multiple sclerosis in professional outpatient depart-ments so called MS Centers. Thousands of patients attend these Centers every year. Thus, the range, and effect of financial help is much bigger than it would be through the support of individuals. Cost of treatment climb to exorbitant height, and there is often a lack of specialists, and equipment.

Therefore, contributions from the Endowment Fund are directed where public finances fall short – support of physiotherapy, psy-chotherapy, purchase of medical devices, and rehabilitation tools.

PhysiotheraPy and rehabilitation

Once, physicians used to say to the patients: “Rest, and do not move.” Today, on the contrary, we hear them saying: “Let’s move, exercise, and make rehabilitation, according to your condition.” It has been proven that regular exercise and rehabilitation are essential in the treatment of multiple sclerosis.

Every year, hundreds of patients are handled by qualified thera-pists paid from the Endowment Fund. Therapists provide them individual outpatient care, they help the patients to rehabilitate on the bed. Since 2011, therapists organize a group rehabilitation based on a round training of exercise, in the MS Center in the General University Hospital in Prague. During one of these exer-cises, the patients themselves came up with the idea of organ-izing a nontraditional 24hour Marathon of exercise with multiple sclerosis. It has been called MaRS, and it is roofed by IMPULS, Endowment Fund. In four years, it became a successful statewide campaign with international participation, and clearly defined proceeds – support of exercise activities of patients in the regions.

PsychotheraPy

Every incurable disease represents a big strain for the psychics of the patient, and his close relatives. At the same time, a good mental con-dition has demonstrably a positive effect on the course of the disease itself. Many patients cannot do without a regular psychotherapy care that helps them to cope with the first onslaught of the disease, the problems connected with it, and to also with a changed life situation.

for 15 years, imPuls, endowment fund, has been engaged in helPing in the area of multiPle sclerosis. during this Period, it succeeded to realize tens of Projects. some of them had a short-time character but the vast majority has been financed steadily for several years.

As in the case of physiotherapy, psychotherapy care is not wholly covered by medical insurance. Therefore, contributions of the Endowment Fund are directed to this area, for covering psy-chotherapy of patients in three MS Centers – University Hos-pital, Plzeň, Hospital in Teplice, and General University Hospital in Prague. Patients can take advantage of both, free individual consultation, and family therapy, or of support during hospitali-zation. IMPULS gives other means for support of therapeutic programs, such as a series of intensive weekend meetings called “Body Meets the Soul”.

rehabilitation tools and equiPment of the centres

Since its establishment in 2000, IMPULS, Endowment Fund, contributes for the equipment of outpatient departments with devices and modern rehabilitation tools that are lacking. In 2015, thanks to the contribution of the Endowment Fund, patients of the Hospital in Jihlava could begin to use new tools. Also Home St. Joseph in Žireč u Dvora Králové n. L. received a contribution, and invested it in full-area transportation equipment in the exercise hall. There, it will considerably facilitate the movement of long-term treated MS patients.

Also the regions that took part in the marathon of exercises MaRS 2015, could acquire modern exercise tools. Proceeds from a voluntary entrance fee and gifts in Prague, was equally distributed to all the cities. So it helped to equip the gyms of the patients, and patient organizations with tools for stabilization, and of spinal cord mobilization, practice of balance, weight train-ing, and stretching.

science and research

Despite a substantial progress in research in recent years, mul-tiple sclerosis still remains a mystery. Therefore, the basic task of the Endowment Fund is to support medical research, and

so contribute to the quickening of development of efficacious drugs, and application of the latest scientific findings in the Czech environment.

In 2015, IMPULS realized two big research projects. It was the second year that it roofed the biostatic analysis project of data of MS patients. This project aims to assess the activity of the diseases, and reaction of individual patients to the treatment. It was the third year that it ran and from endowment contributions wholly financed the statewide Register of Patients with multiple sclerosis (ReMuS).

In 2015, Register ReMuS successfully entered its second devel-opment phase. At its beginning, could register only patients with expensive DMD therapy (Disease Modifying Drugs), i.e. long-term biological treatment. In 2015, it opened for the first time to all other patients regardless the phase of disease, and kind of treatment. The Register provides first verified and long-term outcomes about the course of the disease, and its treatment.

The results of the Register were successfully presented to the public on the spring press conference in Prague. Then, it was presented to the employees of MS Centers on accredited seminar in Brno, and other professional domestic events. It was also presented at the international Neurological Congress ECTRIMS in Barcelona. The outcome and interest for cooperation from European countries demonstrate that the Register already belongs among prominent European multiple sclerosis databases.

raising of Public awareness, and education

To bring awareness and inspiration to sick people, and to the healthy ones, to encourage them to an active approach to life but also to raise general public awareness about the disease. In this way, we could shortly summarize the aims that IMPULS, Endowment Fund, tries to reach with its campaigns, and educa-tional activities.

In 2015, the 24hour marathon of exercise MaRS, ranks among the most successful events in the media, together with ben-eficiary evening for IMPULS, and press conference about the Register ReMuS. These traditional activities were complemented by a successful tour “Seeking for 16 Thousand” through the Czech Republic, and the communication of chosen issues such as “Multiple Sclerosis and Pregnancy”. Ratings of more than 350 articles published on the basis of events exceeded 71 million reads, and completely dominated the issue of multiple sclerosis in the Czech media.

Yearly charity concert for IMPULS brought fresh spring wind in the communication of the Endowment Fund. There, IMPULS not only celebrated its 15th birthday but at the same time, it presented itself in a new dress. It introduced the new logo, and graphic visualization of informational materials. At the first sight, these materials capture attention with minimalistic concep-tion, and bright colors. It combines dynamics and movement of excitement, and also billowing of nerve fiber. Change of the whole visual presentation of the Endowment Fund shall gradually appear in all, both printed and on-line materials.

Support and education of professionals through conferences, and seminars occupies an important position among the activi-ties of the Endowment Fund. One of them is the professional symposium 17th Jedlička Neuroimmunological and Liquorological Days where IMPULS figures as organizer. Other supported event is e.g. the working seminar about the Register ReMuS for the staff of the MS Centers.

handing over of a check for rehabilitation tools, hosPital jihlava, 1/22/2015In 2015, patients of the MS Center, and rehabilitation of the Hospital Jihlava, began to use more than 30 new rehabilitation tools worth CZK 77,136. They acquired them thanks to the gift from Endowment Fund IMPULS, Oxalis company, and Associa-tion of Young MS Patients. Ceremonial handing over took place in the presence of media right in the MS Center in the Hospital Jihlava. According to Radek Ampapa, chief of the MS Center in Jihlava, the gift will significantly improve the possibilities of the local rehabilitation care. The project became a unique example of cooperation of the private sector, and non-profit sector, and patients themselves.

mars 2015 – 4th year of marathon with multiPle sclerosis, 3/6–3/7, 2015IMPULS, Endowment Fund, organized already the fourth year 24hour Marathon with Multiple Sclerosis – MaRS. During the first weekend in March, almost thousand patients, medics, friends, and supporters from 12 cities did exercise for the whole day and night. For the first time, foreign cities – Piešťany (Slovakia), and Valens (Switzerland) – joined the event. Total proceeds for support of rehabilitation, and acquisition of rehabilitation tools amounted to CZK 116,848. The aim of the sports campaign is to motivate patients to an active approach to the disease, and to draw their attention to the necessity of regular exercise during the therapy.

charity evening for imPuls, la fabrika, Prague 7, 4/7/2015 Visitors of the 10th year of Charity Evening for IMPULS had the opportunity to experience the sense of a lack of freedom, and impossibility to move. The program consisted in the dancing performance “Korekce” – under the directorial baton of Jiří Havelka, and it was presented by the dancing group VerTe Dance, and the quartet Clarinet Factory. The performance took place on April 7, in a crowded hall La Fabrika in Prague. The collected amount of CZK 481,251 was dedicated to the ReMuS, Register of Patients, and medical research connected with it. During the ceremonial evening, company UNIMEX GROUP, long-time general

partner, gave a check for 350,000 CZK to the representatives of the Fund. It happened almost on the day when IMPULS, Endowment Fund, was founded 15 years ago.

Press conference on the Project remus, clarion congress hotel Prague, Prague 9, 5/25/2015On May 25, in occasion of the World Multiple Sclerosis Day, about fifty journalists, and partners gathered for the press conference in Clarion Congress Hotel Prague. IMPULS, Endowment Fund, presented the first extensive outcomes of ReMuS Register. Kateřina Bémová, chairwoman of the Managing Board, pointed out that the main contribution of the Register is bringing of long-term data that cannot be obtained in clinical studies. Also the neurologist, prof. Eva Havrdová, emphasized the importance of the Register for research, and therapeutic purposes.

17th jedlička neuroimmunological and liquorological days, charles university, Prague 1, 5/29–5/30, 2015The prestigious conference Jedlička Neuroimmunological and Liquorological Days belongs to the professional events where IMPULS, Endowment Fund, participates in the organization. More than 120 physicians and scientists from the Czech Republic and from abroad participated in its 17th year at the Charles University on May 29–30. Specialists appreciated especially its high profes-sional level, and scientifically beneficial contents of the event. Jedlička Days, an event named after one of the first neurologists who engaged in diagnosis, and treatment of multiple sclerosis, take place once in two years. And traditionally it is a significant place to share experience in the field of neurology.

“body meets the soul”, recreation Premises near jetřichovice, 3/27–3/29, 5/22–5/24, 9/16–9/18, 2015In 2015, MS patients met three times within the program of an intensive group therapy “Body Meets the Soul”. In the inspira-tional nature of Central Bohemia, under the tutelage of experi-enced therapists, and by using nontraditional modern methods, they worked on realizing the relation between psychical and physical aspect of their personalities, and on coping with their diagnosis. It was already fifth year that this weekend program took place, and it was financed from contributions of IMPULS, Endowment Fund.

“seeking for 16 thousand”, 9/28–10/13, 201516 days, 16 cities, 16 hundred kilometers, 16 thousand steps to each stopover – we are not speaking of gamesome math-ematics but we are talking about the travelling event “Seeking for 16 Thousand”. On the day of the Czech statehood, IMPULS, Endowment Fund, with a crew composed by physiotherapists, and volunteers set out on a St. Wenceslas pilgrimage in an expeditionary car. The aim of this nontraditional, and wholly unique event was the raising of public awareness of multiple sclerosis, encourage patients, and the public to the support of regional patients’ associations, and to invite them to the 5th year of 24hour Marathon with Multiple Sclerosis (MaRS 2016). Finally, tachometers of the expeditionary cars Renault recorded 6,163 km, the crew met hundreds of active people who walked 1,966,475 steps in total, and so altogether proved that nobody has to be afraid of movement. The mission of IMPULS culmi-nated in Náměstí Míru in Prague where both, all the members of the crew, and the most active regions of the whole expedition, received a reward.

accredited seminar remus, university hosPital brno, 10/2/2015On Friday October 2, the Endowment Fund invited about thirty physicians, nurses, and medics of specialized MS Centers from the whole Republic, to the University Hospital Brno, Bohunice. There, the working seminar on the subject “News in the Register of MS Patients (ReMuS)” took place. After a theoretic part dedicated to the outcomes of the Register, and problematics of data protection, and projects’ processes, the participants focused on training the work with database program itself. Also the discussion and sharing of experience with its running had a great response.

13th year of the exPosition “cesta za duhou 2015”, galerie vinohradská 12, Prague 2, 11/5–11/29, 2015In 2015, as every year, IMPULS, Endowment Fund, was a proud partner of the autumn exposition “Cesta za duhou” (“Journey to the Rainbow”). For the 13th time, the exposition presented interesting artworks of patients with multiple sclerosis. This time it took place in a barrier-free area in the building of Czech Radio, Gallery Vinohradská 12. Presentation of the register remus at the conference on multiPle sclerosis, home centre st. josePh in žireč, 11/24/2015One of the recipients of endowment contributions is the Home Centre St. Joseph in Žirec by Dvůr Králové n. L. It is the only specialized bed facility that takes care of patients with multiple sclerosis. It is ran by District Charity Červený Kostelec. Rep-resentatives of the Endowment Fund accepted the invitation to the conference “Complete Nursing Care for Patients with Multiple Sclerosis”, and ceremonial opening of new premises of the Home Centre. They presented their endowment activities, especially the Register ReMuS, and exercise marathon MaRS.

christmas concert sePtem cantet, castle klášterec nad ohří, 12/11/2015On Friday December 11, everybody who came to the charity Christmas concert in the Renaissance Hall of the Castle Klášterec nad Ohří could enjoy listening winsome vocals of female chamber choir Septem Cantet. In the crowded hall resounded a variety of Czech Christmas carols, traditional gospels, and modern songs. The members of the choir donated the proceeds amounting to CZK 10,534 to IMPULS, Endowment Fund, for the equipment of the newly renovated MS Center in Teplice.

collection for imPuls on the charity christmas market sPšst, Prague 1, 12/22/2015For the second year, the Secondary Technical School of Com-munication Engineering, Prague, Panská Street, dedicated the proceeds of the Charity Christmas Market to people with multiple sclerosis. Part of the market was a pre-Christmas meeting of all students on the school pitch under the ginkgo. By singing Christ-mas carols, teachers, students, and friends of the school, dressed the tree with a thirty meter long scarf that they were knitting since the beginning of the school year. Non-traditional charity project under the tutelage of PhDr. Dagmar Vacková, earned CZK 14,250 for the support of psychotherapy of the patients. The cheque will be handed over to the Endowment Fund at the traditional spring Concert for IMPULS.

1 Supervisory Board’s Report 2015 Endowment Fund IMPULS

IMPULS, Endowment Fund, was founded by an agreement between founders and came into being on April 6, 2000, when it was registered in the Endowment Register, Section N, insert 325 by the Prague City Court.

The report is focused on Supervisory Board‘s monitoring activities and the result of financial statements 2015.

In 2015, Supervisory Board ensured duties assigned to it by law, and by the Statute of Endowment Fund IMPULS.

The Board supervised the performance of Managing Board, controlled accounting records and other financial evidence of the Endowment Fund IMPULS. It evaluated the management and control system effectiveness and assessed it on a regular basis.

After reviewing financial statements for the period from January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2015, Supervisory Board, basing on auditor’s opinion, stated that accounting records and evidence had been kept in a conclusive way and comply with generally binding regulations on bookkeeping.

The accounting records and evidence depict all important aspects of the financial position of the Endowment Fund IMPULS. Financial statements drawn up on the basis of these accounting records provide a true and honest picture of the Fund’s accounting and financial position.

The auditor of the company audited the fund’s financial statements and expressed its opinion without reservations.

Supervisory Board recommends that the Managing Board approves the financial statements 2015 as proposed.

The following is still valid:

- Mgr. Marta Gellová continues to be a member. - Since 12/31/2012, other member has not been delegated. - By now, Supervisory Board has 2 members. It is necessary to co-opt or to elect the 3rd member in

order to enable the Supervisory Board to be fully functional.

Supervisory Board supervised the Managing Board in accordance with the Czech Commercial Code, and the Statute of the Endowment Fund IMPULS. Supervisory Board did not find any deficiencies when pursuing its control activity.

Based on ascertained facts and conclusions made, Supervisory Board recommends approval of the

financial statements and of the proposal of activity for the year 2015.

Accounting of Endowment Fund IMPULS is kept in compliance with Act No. 563/1991 Coll. on Accounting, as amended and executive measures related to it. Accounting book is kept by external accountant. Income tax return was and will be declared in compliance with the Law of the Czech Republic.
