1 •Water recommendationsTap waterRowenta irons are designed to be used withREGULAR TAP WATER (up to 12 grains ofhardness). If your water is harder than this,Rowenta recommends mixing half tap waterwith half distilled water which reduces thehardness; or just use inexpensive bottledspring water. Never use 100% distilled wateras this can cause the iron to spit and leak.
Softened waterThere are many types of household watersofteners and the water from many of them isperfectly acceptable for use in the expertpressure iron & steamer. However, some typesof softeners, particularly those that usechemicals such as salt, can cause theappliance to leak or spit during use. If youexperience this type of problem, werecommend that you try using inexpensivebottled spring water or untreated tap water.
Once you have changed water it will takeseveral uses to correct the problem. Rowentarecommends trying the steam function for thefirst time on an old towel or cloth that can bediscarded to avoid damaging your clothes.
Iron and other impuritiesIf your water supply contains large amounts ofiron or organic matter, these minerals cancollect inside the appliance and eventuallyappear as brown stains. If you experiencethese problems Rowenta recommends usinginexpensive bottled spring water.
Always remember :Battery water and water containing additives(such as starch, perfume or fabric conditioner)may not be used. Such additives can affect theproperties of the steam and at high temperaturescan form deposits in the steam chamber whichwill mark the laundry when they are emittedthrough the steam vents.
2 • Filling the expert pressureiron & steamerThe expert pressure iron and steamer isdesigned to operate using tap water. (Fig. 1).While unplugged, place the pressure iron &steamer on a stable, heat resistant surface.Open the water tank cover. fill the the tankwith a maximum of 33 oz. of water, taking carenot to overfill. close the water tank cover.Completely unwind the power cord and steamhose. (fig. 2)
Due to the powerful steam output, a mesh type ironing board must be used to allow anyexcess steam to escape and to avoid steam venting sideways.
Please read all of the instructions for useand the Important Safeguards carefully.Remove all packaging from the expertpressure iron & steamer. It is normal for asmall amount of smoke and a light odor tobe produced the first time it is used. Thiswill quickly disappear.
Never use 100% pure distilled water.
Descaling liquids/agents should not be used.

The water tank can be filled at any timeduring use. when refilling take care not tooverfill the tank.

3 •Turning on and offPlug the expert pressure iron & steamer into a120 volt electric outlet (Fig. 3).Press on/off switch (Fig. 4), the iron light andsteam indicator light will turn on and thesteam ready light will flash. when the expertpressure iron & steamer is in use, the electricpump will make a humming noise as it pullswater into the boiler to produce steam. thisnoise is normal. the expert pressure iron &steamer is ready to use when the steam readyindicator light stops flashing, (approximately 2minutes).During ironing the temperature indicator lightfor the iron and the steam indicator light willturn on and off. This is normal as thetemperature is being regulated.The unit is stillon when these lights go out.
4 • Operating the control panel• Flashing green light: the water is heating upin the boiler (fig.7)• Continuous green light: steam is ready foruse (fig.7)• Continuous red light: the water tank is empty(fig.10).• Orange light flashes: your boiler needsrinsing (fig.12).
5 • Using your expertpressure iron & steamPlace the iron’s temperature control (fig.5) tothe type of fabric to be ironed and set thesteam output (fig.6) - see table below. The irontemperature control light turns on (fig.7).
While ironing, the light on top of the iron andthe steam ready light turn on and off, as thetemperature adjusts without interruptingironing. To obtain steam, press on the steamtrigger beneath the iron handle and keep it
pressed (fig.8). The steam will stop when yourelease the trigger.

Iron temperature control setting: Start withfabrics to be ironed at a low temperatureand finish with those which need highertemperatures. Each time you change fabrics,wait for he light to turn off. Mixed fibrefabrics: set the ironing temperature to thesetting for the most delicate fabric. Woollengarments: press repeatedly on the steamcontrol button to obtain short bursts ofsteam, without placing the iron on thegarment itself.This will avoid making thefabric shiny. Steam output control dialsetting:Thick fabric: increase the steamsetting. At a low temperature: set the steamoutput control dial to the low position. Fordelicate fabrics(•), press the steam trigger(under the handle of the iron) intermittentlyto avoid possible water droplets appearingwith the steam.
Recommendations:To prime the steamcircuit, either before using the iron for thefirst time, or if you have not used the steamfunction for a few minutes, press the steamtrigger several times in a row,holding the iron away from your clothes.
Do not place the iron on a metal support.Always place the iron on the iron rest of theunit. It is equipped with non-slip pads andhas been designed to withstand hightemperatures.

6 • Vertical steam ironingSet the iron temperature control and thesteam output control dial (located on thecontrol panel) to the maximum position.Hang the garment on a coat hanger and holdthe fabric slightly taut with one hand. Pressrepeatedly on the steam (fig.8) trigger(beneath the iron handle) moving the ironfrom top to bottom (fig.9).
7 • Dry ironingDo not press on the steam trigger.
8 • Fill the water tank againWhen there is no more steam and the”Watertank empty” light flashes: water tank is empty(fig.10). Turn the unit off (see section“Turning on and off”) and unplug from outlet.Open the water tank filler cover and fill withmaximum 33 oz of water.Take care not to overfill the tank.
Close the water tank. Press on the on / offswitch (fig.4). Press the “Restart” button. Theexpert pressure iron & steamer is ready to ironwhen the steam ready indicator light is steadygreen and the iron thermostat dial light hasgone out.
9 • Storing your expert pressureiron & steamerTurn the unit off (see section “Turning on andoff”) and unplug from outlet. Place the iron onthe iron rest. Store the steam hose in its clipand the electrical cord in its compartment.Leave the iron to cool down for 1 hour beforeputting it away if it is stored in a cupboard orconfined space.
As steam is very hot: never attempt toremove creases from a garment while it
is being worn, always hang garments on acoat hanger. For fabrics other than linen orcotton, hold the iron a few centimetres fromthe garment to avoid burning the fabric.
If this occurs, remove the excess water.

10 • Cleaning the expert pressureiron & steamer
The Iron soleplate:In normal use a draggy coating may build upon the soleplate (starch, detergent buildup,burnt synthetic fibers). This can be easilyremoved by using the Rowenta SoleplateCleaning Kit or a quality hot iron soleplatecleaner available at most stores.To prevent scratching the soleplate, do not ironover sharp objects (zippers, etc.). Do not placethe iron on rough surfaces, e.g. metal ironsupport, which may scratch the soleplate.Always put the iron with the soleplate down onthe iron rest, never place on its heel.
The Base Unit:Clean the plastic parts of the applianceoccasionally with a soft cloth.
11 • Rinsing the boilerYour generator is equipped with an orange“boiler rinse” warning light (fig.12) thatflashes on the control panel after about 10uses.You can continue ironing normally butremember to rinse the boiler before the nextuse.
Place the expert pressure iron & steamer on theedge of a sink, with the iron to one side, standingon its heel. Remove the boiler rinse cap cover(fig.13). Using a coin, gently unscrew the boilerrinse cap (fig.14).
With the rinsing accessory: it will beeasier to rinse the boiler as expert pressureiron & steamer will need less handling. Therinsing accessory has been designed to work ona wide range of faucets.
Choose the one best suited to your faucet (a orb)(fig.15). Place the plastic nozzle of therinsing pipe into the hole of the boiler and turngently to the right until it locks (fig.16). Theoutlet of this nozzle must be positioned overthe sink (fig.17). Connect the rubber end of therinsing pipe to a cold tap (R). Turn the tap ongently and gradually and let cold water runthrough the rinsing pipe into the sink for about1 minute (fig.18). Switch off the faucet andremove the rinsing pipe.OrWithout the rinsing accessory:Gently unscrew the boiler rinse cap (fig.14).Holding the expert pressure iron & steamer ina tilted position, fill the boiler (in the base unit)with 8 oz of tap water.Shake the base unit for a few moments and
then empty it completely over your sink.To obtain the best result, we recommend thatthis operation is done twice.
ATTENTION: Do not use descaling agentsfor rinsing out the boiler, as they coulddamage it.
Do not use any cleaning or descalingproducts for cleaning the soleplate or thebase-unit. Never hold the iron or the baseunit under the tap.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Before cleaning or rinsing, ensure that the appliance is unplugged and that the soleplateand the iron rest have cooled down for at least 2 hours, in order to avoid any risk of scal-ding.
The next time you use the generator, holddown the “restart” (fig.19) button to turnoff the orange light. .

Your boiler has a build-up ofscale because it has not beenrinsed out regularly.
Rinse out the boiler after every 10 uses, whenthe orange indicator light flashes (see chapter11). If your water is hard increase the frequency.
You have already rinsed theboiler and the orange “boilerrinse” light is flashing.
You have not pressed the“Restart” button.
Press the “Restart” button to turn off theindicator light.
Brown streaks come through theholes in the soleplate andstain the linen.
You are using chemicaldescaling agents or additivesin the water for ironing.
Never add this type of product in the water tank orin the boiler (see our recommendationsregarding water to be used).
Your linen is not rinsedsufficiently or you haveironed a new garment beforewashing it.
Ensure linen is rinsed thoroughly to remove anysoap deposits or chemicals on new garments.
The soleplate is dirty orbrown and may stain thelinen.
You are ironing at too high atemperature.
See our recommendations regardingtemperature control setting.
There is no steam. The water tank is empty(light turn on).
Fill the water tank and press the “Restart” buttonon the control panel.
There is little steam. The steam output control dialis set at minimum.

3 • Mettez votre générateur enmarcheAppuyez sur l’interrupteur lumineuxmarche/arrêt(fig.4), il s’allume.Après une minute environ, et régulièrement àl’usage, la pompe électrique équipant votreappareil injecte de l’eau dans la chaudière. Celagénère un bruit qui est normal.Le générateur et le fer sont prêts à repasserquand le voyant vapeur est allumé et le voyantdu fer éteint.
4 • Fonctionnement du tableaude bord• Voyant vert clignote (fig.7) : la chaudière chauffe.• Voyant vert allumé (fig.7) : la vapeur est prête.• Voyant rouge allumé (fig.10) : le réservoir estvide.
• Voyant orange clignote (fig.12) : vous devezrincer votre chaudière.
DESCRIPTION
1• Quelle eau utiliser ?Votre appareil a été conçu pour fonctionneravec l’eau du robinet. Si votre eau est trèscalcaire, mélangez 50 % d’eau du robinet et50 % d’eau déminéralisée du commerce.
2 • Préparez votre générateurPlacez le générateur sur un emplacement stableet horizontal ne craignant pas la chaleur.Ouvrez la trappe du réservoir.
Utilisez une carafe d’eau et remplissez-la d’unlitre d’eau maximum puis versez l’eau dans leréservoir en prenant soin de ne pas fairedéborder (fig.1). Refermez le réservoir.
Déroulez complètement le cordon électrique etsortez le cordon vapeur de son rangement(fig.2).Branchez votre générateur sur une priseélectrique (fig.3).
En cas de débordement, éliminez le surplus.
Avant le remplissage, vérifiez que votreappareil est débranché et froid.IMPORTANT N’utilisez jamais d’eau
contenant des additifs (amidon, parfum,substances aromatiques, adoucissant, etc.), nide l’eau de batterie ou de condensation (parexemple l’eau des séchoirs à linge, l’eau desréfrigérateurs, l’eau des climatiseurs, l’eau depluie). Elles contiennent des déchetsorganiques ou des éléments minéraux qui seconcentrent sous l’effet de la chaleur etprovoquent des crachements, des couluresbrunes ou un vieillissement prématuré devotre appareil.
Durant la première utilisation, il peut se produireun dégagement de fumée et une odeur sansnocivité. Ce phénomène sans conséquence surl’utilisation de l’appareil disparaîtra rapidement.

5 • Repassez à la vapeurPlacez le thermostat (fig.5) sur le type de tissu àrepasser et réglez le débit de vapeur (fig.6) - voirtableau ci-dessous. Le voyant du fer s’allume(fig.7).
Pendant le repassage, le voyant situé sur le fers’allume et s’éteint selon les besoins dechauffe, sans incidence sur l’utilisation.Pour obtenir de la vapeur, appuyez sur lacommande vapeur située sous la poignée du fer(fig.8). La vapeur s’arrête en relâchant lacommande.Si vous utilisez de l’amidon, pulvérisez-le àl’envers de la face à repasser.
6 • Défroissez verticalementRéglez le bouton de température du fer et lebouton de réglage du débit de vapeur sur laposition maxi.Suspendez le vêtement sur un cintre et tendezlégèrement le tissu d’une main.Appuyez sur la commande vapeur (fig.8) parintermittence en effectuant un mouvement dehaut en bas (fig.9).
7 • Repassez à secN’appuyez pas sur la commande vapeur.
8 • Remplissez à nouveau leréservoirVous n’avez plus de vapeur et le voyant“réservoir vide” s’allume (fig.10) : le réservoird’eau est vide. Arrêtez le générateur enappuyant sur l’interrupteur marche/arrêt etdébranchez la prise. Ouvrez le couvercle duréservoir.Utilisez une carafe d’eau et remplissez-la d’unlitre d’eau maximum puis versez l’eau dans leréservoir en prenant soin de ne pas fairedéborder (fig.1).
Refermez le réservoir.Appuyez sur l’interrupteur lumineuxmarche/arrêt(fig.4), il s’allume. Appuyez sur la touche Restart.Le générateur et le fer sont prêts à repasserquand le voyant vapeur est allumé et le voyantdu fer éteint.
Réglage de la température du fer :Votre fer chauffe vite, commencez d’abord parles tissus qui se repassent à bassetempérature, puis terminez par ceux quidemandent une température plus élevée. Achaque changement de textile, attendez que levoyant du fer s’eteigne. Si vous repassez destissus en fibres mélangées, réglez latempérature de repassage sur la fibre la plusfragile. Si vous repassez des vêtements enlaine, appuyez juste sur la commande vapeurdu fer par impulsions, sans poser le fer sur levêtement.Vous éviterez ainsi de le lustrer.Réglage du bouton de débit vapeur :Si vous repassez un tissu épais, augmentez ledébit de vapeur.Si vous repassez à basse température, réglezle bouton de débit vapeur sur la position mini.Pour les tissus délicats (•), actionnez trèsmodérément la commande vapeur pour éviterdes coulures éventuelles.
La vapeur produite étant très chaude, nedéfroissez jamais un vêtement sur unepersonne, mais toujours sur un cintre.Pour les tissus autres que le lin ou le coton,maintenez le fer à quelques centimètres afinde ne pas brûler le tissu.
Recommandation : Lors de la premièreutilisation ou si vous n’avez pas utilisé lavapeur depuis quelques minutes, appuyezplusieurs fois de suite sur la commande vapeuren dehors de votre linge. Cela permettrad’éliminer l’eau froide du circuit de vapeur.

Pendant les pauses de repassage, ne posezjamais le fer sur un repose-fer métallique, cequi pourrait l’abîmer mais plutôt sur la plaquerepose-fer du boîtier : elle est équipée depatins anti-dérapants et a été conçue pourrésister à des températures élevées.

10 • Nettoyez le générateur
La semelle : nettoyez la semelle refroidie devotre fer avec un chiffon humide ou uneéponge non métallique.Le boîtier : nettoyez de temps en temps lesparties plastiques de l’appareil à l’aide d’unchiffon doux.
11 • Rincez la chaudièreVotre générateur est équipé d’un voyant“vidangechaudière” qui clignote (fig.12) au bout d’environ10 utilisations. Vous pouvez continuer votreséance de repassage normalement, mais pensezà rincer votre chaudière avant la prochaineutilisation.
Videz le réservoir après vous être assuré quel’appareil est éteint depuis plus de deux heures.Placez votre générateur sur le rebord de votreévier. Retirez le cache du bouchon de vidange(fig.13). Dévissez doucement le bouchon devidange de la chaudière (fig.14) à l’aide d’unepièce de monnaie.
Avec l’accessoire de vidange : utilisezl’accessoire mis à votre disposition dansl’emballage.
Il vous facilitera le rinçage de la chaudière enlimitant les manipulations du générateur. Il aété conçu pour fonctionner sur le plus grandnombre de robinets. Choisissez la membrane(fig.15) qui est la mieux adaptée à votrerobinet. (a ou b)Placez l’embout plastique de l’accessoire devidange dans l’orifice de la chaudière et tournezlégèrement sur la droite jusqu’à l’enclenchement(fig.16). La sortie de cet embout doit se situer au-dessus de l’évier.Raccordez l’autre embout de l’accessoire devidange à votre robinet (fig.17).Ouvrez progressivement et modérément votrerobinet et laissez l’eau froide s’écouler dansl’évier à travers l’accessoire de vidange pendantenviron 1minute (fig.18). Fermez votre robinet etenlevez l’accessoire de vidange.
ouSans l’accessoire de vidange :Retirez le cache du bouchon de vidange (fig.13).Ouvrez le bouchon de vidange de la chaudière(fig.15). Maintenez votre générateur de vapeuren position verticale, et avec une carafe,remplissez lentement la chaudière d’1/4 de litred’eau du robinet.Remuez le boîtier quelques instants puis videz-le complètement au-dessus de votre évier.Pour obtenir un bon résultat, nous vousconseillons de renouveler l’opération unedeuxième fois.
ATTENTION ! N’utilisez jamais de produitsdétartrants pour rincer la chaudière, ilspourraient l’endommager.
Ne passez jamais le fer ou le boîtier sousl’eau du robinet.N’utilisez aucun produit d’entretien ou dedétartrage pour nettoyer la semelle ou leboîtier.
ENTRETIEN ET NETTOYAGE
Avant de procéder au nettoyage ou à la vidange de votre générateur, il est impératif del’arrêter, le débrancher et le laisser refroidir pendant plus de 2 heures, pour éviter tout risquede brûlure.
9 • Rangez le générateurEteignez l’interrupteur marche/arrêt et débranchezla prise. Posez le fer sur la plaque repose-fer dugénérateur. Appuyez sur la touche enrouleur decordon (selonmodèle) (fig.11) et rangez le cordonvapeur.
Laissez refroidir le générateur aumoins une heureavant de le ranger si vous devez le stocker dans unplacard ou un espace étroit. Vous pouvez rangervotre générateur de vapeur en toute sécurité.
Lors de la prochaine utilisation, appuyezsur la touche “Restart” (fig.19) et le voyant“vidange chaudière” s’éteint.

Diminuez le débit de vapeur lorsque vous repassezà basse température (bouton de réglage situé sur letableau de bord).Attendez que le voyant du fer soit éteint avantd’actionner la commande vapeur.
L’eau s’est condensée dans lestuyaux car vous utilisez lavapeur pour la première fois ouvous ne l’avez pas utiliséedepuis quelques temps.
Appuyez sur la commande vapeur en dehors devotre table à repasser, jusqu’à ce que le fer ou labrosse émette de la vapeur.
Des coulures blanches sortentdes trous de la semelle.
Votre chaudière rejette du tartrecar elle n’est pas rincéerégulièrement.
Rincez la chaudière lorsque le voyant “vidangechaudière” clignote. Si votre eau est très calcaire,augmentez les fréquences.
Vous avez fait la vidange de lachaudière et le voyant“vidange chaudière” clignote.
Vous n’avez pas appuyé sur latouche “Restart”.
Appuyez sur la touche “Restart”.
Des coulures brunes sortentdes trous de la semelle ettachent le linge.
Vous utilisez des produitschimiques détartrants ou desadditifs dans l’eau derepassage.
N’ajoutez jamais aucun produit dans le réservoird’eau ou dans la chaudière (voir § 1).
La semelle est sale ou bruneet peut tacher le linge.
Vous utilisez une températuretrop importante.
Reportez-vous à nos conseils sur le réglage destempératures (voir § 5).
Votre linge n’est passuffisamment bien rincé si vousutilisez de l’amidon.
Pulvérisez toujours l’amidon sur l’envers de la faceà repasser.
Il n’y a plus de vapeur. Le réservoir d’eau est vide(voyant allumé).
Remplissez le réservoir d’eau et appuyez sur latouche “Restart” située sur le tableau de bord.
Il y a peu de vapeur. Le débit de vapeur est réglé auminimum.
Augmentez le débit de vapeur (bouton de réglagesur le tableau de bord).
La température de la semelleest réglée au maximum.
La vapeur, très chaude, est sèche, donc peu visible.
Des traces d’eau apparaissentsur le linge.
Votre housse de table estsaturée en eau car elle n’est pasadaptée à la puissance d’ungénérateur.
Assurez-vous d’avoir une table adaptée (plateaugrillagé qui évite la condensation).
Le voyant «réservoir vide» estallumé.

Appuyez sur la touche “Restart” de redémarragesituée sur le tableau de bord.

Contactez un Centre Service Agréé pourcommander un joint de rechange.
