AnotacePrezentace je určena pro výuku anglického jazyka k procvičení maturitního okruhu American cities /New York, Washington, San Francisco, Los Angeles/. Prezentaci jemožno využít ve všech ročnících, je možné využít pouze jednotlivé části a úkoly.

Metodický pokyn

Studenti na základě informací získaných během studia při prezentaci samostatně reagují na otázky a úkoly a s pomocí stručné charakteristiky identifikují města a místa na obrázcích. Využívají on-line slovník. Textovou část je možno vytisknout a dát studentům k samostatnému vypracování.

This town is unusual. Although it is in a state, it is considered a separate district which has its own laws and regulations. In the middle of it there is a big house, where the country´s leader lives. It has a west wing and an east wing, and parts of it are open to the public.

A/ LA is the film capital of the USA with the film centre Hollywood.

B/ Walk of Fame /more than 2,000 stars are printed on the sidewalk with the names of celebrities/.

C/ Walt Disney Concert Hall designed by an innovative architect Frank Gehry.

D/ Sunset Boulevard – a street in the western part of LA. It runs from downtown LA to the Pacific Ocean.

E/ Hollywood and Highland Centre – a shopping mall and entertainment complex in the Hollywood district.

A/ Golden Gate Bridge, one of symbols of the city, built in 1937.

B/ Cable car , a sort of tram used for public transport. These cars are able to go both up and down the hill.

C/ Lombard Street, the crookedest street in the world. Part of it changes direction ten times.

D/ Alcatraz, probably the most famous prison in the world. It is an island in the San Francisco Bay. In 1969 it was closed and since 1973 it has been opened to

public. One of the well-known prisoners was Al Capone.
